Christmas Tree Bokeh |St. Louis Photographer

Want to know how to make Christmas tree heart bokeh?  Follow the easy, homemade way to create your own.

Chose a wide aperture (small number such as 1.8, 2.0, 2.8) and set your camera to manual focus.  Point the camera to the tree (further away is better) and instead of focusing on the tree, turn your focal ring until the tree is out of focus. This is what you will get.

And this is what happens without the paper on the lens.

Would love to see what you create!

Fall Mini Sessions-recap! | St. Louis Family Photographer

What a weekend!  Thank you so much to everyone that participated in my first ever Fall Mini Session!  I could not have pulled it off without a little help from some friends.  I love my fellow women business owner friends who 'get it' and understand I can't do all of this alone.  First, thanks to Becky Ortyl and Rebecca Stisser for helping me plan such a large event.  They have the best ideas and are both take charge kind of girls!  Please check them out as they are amazing at what they do.  http://rebeccastisser.com/ and http://www.mightyoakes.org/ and http://www.oliveandoakstl.com/

And also a big thank you to Stacie @ Paisley Boutique in Webster Groves.  She helped pull it all together with her wardrobe and accessories to style those that were interested.  It was a long couple of days but such a success.

Now to editing...whew.  Check out a few pics from the weekend!

COME SAIL AWAY | CHATHAM, MASSACHUSETTS | FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY

While on my Cape Cod adventure, I got to meet the nicest family from Chicago. They were vacationing at the Chatham Bars Inn where we decided to do our photo shoot.

These kids were the best! It's easy to see how much the girls love their little brother!

AUGUST 21, 2016 | THE LITTLE BIT FOUNDATION | ST. LOUIS CHARITIES

For the past few years, I have had the honor of working with The Little Bit Foundation. Rosemary Hanley started The Little Bit Foundation to remove obstacles standing in front of the greatest opportunity young students have to end the cycle of poverty - their education. Little Bit helps provide basic needs, such as shoes, coats, uniforms, underwear and socks, books and school supplies. They help ensure that students have a nutritious meal after the school day, receive instruction in personal and dental hygiene, and so much more. Below are pictures are just a few of the students that Rosemary Hanley and The Little Bit Foundation help.

Working with The Little Bit Foundation is incredibly rewarding and important work. We at Heidi Drexler Photography want to encourage you to get involved in any way you can. Click on the button below to learn how to help The Little Bit Foundation today!

AUGUST 16, 2016 | CRUISE AROUND HYANNIS PORT, MA | FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY

Getting to travel to my clients is truly one of my favorite parts of my job. This is my 3rd summer photographing Sam and his parents from Massachusetts. We met in Hyannis Port, MA and spent the day cruising and just having fun!

This car is the car of my dreams. How perfect for a sunny beach day drive?!

Is it just me, or is Sam becoming a mini-model before our eyes. That pose!

As if the car wasn't cool enough, we decided to head to the beach to see what we could find.

It's safe to say that I was the star of the show with Sam. He was SO excited to see me and hang out. Or at least until Santa showed up.

This was such a memorable day and I cannot wait to continue to capturing even more memories for many summers to come!
